Vivian M. Adams is a classically trained pianist, educator, and
performer from Raleigh, North Carolina. Ms. Adams began private
piano study at the age of six under her grandmother Vivian Mooney.
With credentials including Associates and Bachelors degrees in
Music and a Masters in Music Performance, Vivian began her
secondary education with a music scholarship at Peace College
(where she studied under Dr. Ray Kilburn) and graduate work at the
University of North Carolina at Greensboro
(where she studied under Dr. Joseph DiPiazza) and the
Universitat Mozarteum
in Salzburg, Austria. She currently studies piano under Dr.
Milton Laufer at Peace College. Vivian's professional life has
included regional music competitions, study abroad, and master
classes with world-renowned musicians, composers, and music
educators.
A music educator, Vivian began her personal instruction of
students while an undergraduate at the Raleigh Community Music
School, a small, local education program dedicated to locating
talent and fostering a love of music among all, regardless of
socioeconomic background. As well, Vivian has served as full time
instructor at the The Music Academy of North Carolina in
Greensboro, Diamond Music Academy (an Explore Creative Learning
Center), and Raleigh Community Music School. She currently
teaches at
Ravenscroft School,
an independent K-12 school dedicated to developing the whole
child, and as well, she maintains a small private home studio and
is part owner and director of The Music Place of Cary. Vivian is
also an active member of the Raleigh Piano Teachers Association,
Music Teachers National Association,
North Carolina Music Teachers Association,
and The National Guild of Music Teachers. |
